Flashbacks of a Fool

Flashbacks of a Fool is a 2008 British drama film about a Hollywood actor who reflects upon his life following the death of his best friend. The film was directed by Baillie Walsh, and stars Daniel Craig, Felicity Jones, Harry Eden, Claire Forlani, Emilia Fox, Eve and Jodhi May.
Synopsis
Daniel Craig stars as Joe, a self-destructive English actor living in California and trapped in a mundane cycle of excess. News of the death of a childhood friend, and the sudden collapse of his movie career, pushes Joe over the edge, and he attempts suicide by throwing himself into the ocean.
Drifting in the Pacific, we are taken back to Joe's teenage years in a sleepy English hamlet. We learn of Joe's relationship with Evelyn, a relationship which ended in tragedy and forced him to flee home for a new life.
After Joe is washed up on the beach, the third act deals with Joe's return to England to see his family, and dealing with those people who had been affected by his actions years earlier.
Production
The film was mainly shot in Cape Town, South Africa and Malibu, California.
Music
The song when Joe is dancing with Ruth is "If There Is Something", performed by Roxy Music.
Reception
Flashbacks Of A Fool generated relatively poor reviews. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reported that 35% of critics gave positive based on 20 reviews. Critics called the script undeveloped, yet praised Craig's performance.
