Great epic: ‘The Stranger in Me’ film

The Stranger in Me is an one of the best European film made in Germany and rock the entire world as a sentimental based drama film directed by Emily Atef, produced by Niko film and co produced by ZDF - Das kleine Fernsehspiel (Annedore v. Donop), Deutsche Film und Fernsehakademie (dffb) in association with ARTE (Birgit Kämper).
This is one of the best advertisements for contraception since "Rosemary's Baby," writer-helmer Emily Atef's sophomore feature, "The Stranger in Me," presents a pared-down portrait of one woman's harrowing struggle against the baby blues.
Never venturing beyond its clinical case-study scenario of postpartum depression, pic shows troubled protag going from glum to gloomier until she literally wallows in the mire midway through the narrative. B.O. prospects look slim for this uninspired downer; still, Euro tube and fests may find the subject matter suitable enough for adoption.
A young couple in love: ‘The Stranger on Me’
Rebecca (32) and her boyfriend Julian (34) are expecting their first child and are full of pleasant expectation. As Rebecca gives birth to a healthy boy their luck seems to be perfect. But instead of the unconditional motherly love she was expecting, she is thrown into an emotional turmoil.
Helplessness and desperation reign and her own baby is a stranger to her. With every day that passes, her inability to meet the demands of motherhood become more and more apparent. Unable to admit this to anyone, not even Julian, she falls into a deep darkness - to the point that she realizes she is becoming a threat to her child.
After a break down, Rebecca is sent to a clinic. Slowly she begins to long for the touch, smell and laughter of her child. An awakening, perhaps, of the mother inside her....
Lead Cast:
Susanne Wolff : Rebecca
Johann von Buelow : Julian
Maren Kroymann : Lore (The Mother)
Hans Diehl : Bernhard
Judith Engel : Elise Dörte
Lyssewski : Agnes
Herbert Fritsch : Dr. Börner
